Biosecurity Readiness & Response User Guide

Biosecurity Readiness & Response User Guide for the Seed and Grain Industry

The NZGSTA is a partner in the Seed Grain Readiness (SGRR) entity, along with the Foundation for Arable Research, United Wheat Growers, NZ Flour Millers Association and Federated Farmers NZ.

SGRR was formed to work with the Government to manage biosecurity readiness and response activities. And to prepare against imported pests and disease threats to our NZ seed and grain industry (ie all seeds, forage and non-forage, cereals and pulses).

Under the SGRR arrangement, MPI and industry partners work together, with equal say, to determine decisions around biosecurity activities and to share any costs (with Government and recovered by way of a special biosecurity levy yet to be set), on a case by case basis.

The attached document “Seed & Grain Readiness and Response Readiness Framework User Guide” sets out how our readiness framework will work in the event of an incursion of an unwanted pest or organism.
