History of the Scholarship Programme

In 2007 NZGSTA ran a successful annual congress of the International Seed Federation.

The associations members voted unanimously to invest some of the profits from that Congress to provide an income stream to fund an annual scholarship to encourage bright young people into the grain and seed industry.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a full time student studying at Lincoln or Massey University.  The current value of the scholarship is $5000.  If a suitable position becomes available the successful applicant may be offered summer employment.

Applicants who are in their second year of study towards a Bachelors degree relevant to the grain and seed industry are eligible to apply. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents.

The criteria for selection will both Academic Merit and interest in the grain and seed industry in New Zealand.
